In Maine; lakes, forests,
mountains, and the sea shore are all within a
short drive and spending time in the great outdoors
is a part of daily life. As a lifelong resident
of Central Maine, Gerry Lizotte has combined a
love of spending time on Maine's lakes and a fondness
for woodworking to create an ideal hobby. Gerry
has been hand carving relief maps since 1997.
Having worked with various types of wood he now
carves primarily in white pine. Many of his carvings
are enjoyed in homes and summer cottages throughout
the state. His work has also been displayed at
the Maine Woodcarvers exhibition in Augusta. His
works have ranged in size from 1 ½ feet
to 4 feet in width and 2 feet to 8 feet in length.
His largest carving, (4' X 8') of the Belgrade
Lakes was commissioned by the
Town of Belgrade in 2000 for their new Center
For All Seasons, Community Center.
